TOMAS TORNE PINTOR
Antoni Tomás Torné, known artistically as Tomás Torné, was born in Tarragona in 1954. He began painting at a very young age, and his academic artistic training was carried out at the prestigious La Llotja School of Art in Barcelona, at the School of Plastic Arts in Madrid and at the Casa de los Picos School of Arts and Crafts in Segovia.
After finishing his artistic studies, he began a series of exhibitions, both national and international, until today, as he is an active painter who, according to him, cannot stop his work. Among his exhibitions, the many in Tarragona, Reus, Barcelona, Valladolid, Malaga, Madrid, Paris, Orleans, Avignon, Villars, England, Andorra, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic stand out.
His artistic style has always been within impressionism, and he has never wanted to enter into the trends of contemporary abstract art. He has always been a free painter when choosing his subjects, which have earned him a very characteristic personality by which he is easily identified, such as the views of his city of Tarragona, its facades and roofs of old houses, and its windows that give a unique and pleasant atmosphere wherever they are placed.
The artist uses warm, Mediterranean colours, reflecting the characteristic light of the city at midday.
These are visions that are deeply engraved in his heart and mind, like many others of this old part of the city, which is so dear to him, since it is all a monument and many of its places are a source of inspiration for the artist.
