VALENTIN MANTEROLA PINTOR

Valentin Manterola, born in Zumáia in 1946.
Since he was a child he was impressed by the sea and the landscapes around him. His art is not limited to showing nature as it is, but goes beyond that, and fuses it with his imagination, with great harmony in forms and colours, proving to be a great master of landscaping.
His style is neo-figurative and neo-expressionist, combining realistic figurative elements with a bold expressionist brushstroke.
Manterola's work is of a singular and subtle elegance, from his poetic and personal point of view as a painter, being currently a reference of contemporary art, which has especially captured the essence of the overwhelming beauty of the Basque country.
